Jean Wyman, one of the planners said, “If you love the beauty of Popham and would like something that reminds you of it every day, this is the Art Show you want.” Well put, Jean! All kinds of original art inspired by Popham Beach and the area will be for sale. Meet the artists, too! The show continues all weekend, from 10am-5pm, every day.

Meteorologists are saying if you picked THIS week to visit Maine (or New England) you picked the best week of summer so far - still a bit hot for my taste, but limited rain and fog - rocky coast and lighthouses in their full glory, and visible! Just don’t forget your sunscreen and shades! (See pic above from one of our walking tours this week.)

In early summer on the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine, my tour participants have a hard time keeping their eyes on me. That’s because they are often looking out at the Kennebec to catch (or try to catch) glimpses of our local monsters - the Atlantic sturgeon - jumping out of the water. (We also have shortnose sturgeon, less monstrous, but still a sight!)

On Saturday morning, from 8:30-12noon the Bath Farmers’ Market (heirloom tomatoes pictured above) will be at Waterfront Park, as usual. We are running our Downtown Tour at 9:30am, as usual. And, from 11am-2pm, Lisa-Marie’s Made in Maine continues their “Meet the Maker” series with fellow Bath-entrepreneur and photographer Benjamin Williamson. Williamson is the former photo editor for Downeast magazine and as such has all the best tips for visiting shutterbugs and some great pieces to take home from your visit to Maine.

This Saturday evening, July 8th, 2023, also at Waterfront Park in Bath, Maine. the summer concert series kicks off at 5pm with Crystal Vision, a Fleetwood Mac Tribute Artist. Grab a picnic and a blanket and enjoy the throwback sounds, and dance a little (or a lot)! All with the beautiful Kennebec River in the background.

The 1840s and 50s was a time of a huge increase in immigration to the United States, especially coming from Ireland, where the failure of the staple potato crop caused widespread famine. Refugees fled to America, in hopes of a new start, or at least a chance to survive. Many came to Bath, Maine.

Bath Pride events kick off Friday, June 16th - our first ever PRIDE festival. On Friday, from 4-7 - join the crowd at Waterfront Park for a plethora of performance events! Bath Art Hop, with a special PRIDE focus, runs throughout downtown with artists and others selling their wares on the sidewalks, and Bath’s galleries will be open late as well.
