Things to do in Bath, Maine this weekend, July 28th-30th, 2023
Winner, winner, you got the best weather!
Bath, Maine - area summer activities + blueberries!
Meteorologists are saying if you picked THIS week to visit Maine (or New England) you picked the best week of summer so far - still a bit hot for my taste, but limited rain and fog - rocky coast and lighthouses in their full glory, and visible! Just don’t forget your sunscreen and shades! (See pic above from one of our walking tours this week.)
So, yes, head to Popham or Reid State Parks, Sewall Pond, or a boat ride with Captain Gary or on the Merrymeeting at the Maine Maritime Museum. And there’s lots to do on land in the Bath, Maine area too…Read on to see what’s up…
On Friday at 11:30am, July 28th, Trinken Brewing Company releases We’ll Get There, an American-Style Lager. I want to drink this beer and find out more about what the beer’s name means! All Maine beer is good and the names and labels are even better! (See pic.)
Afterward, join our Downtown Walking Tour at 4pm. I’ll point out all the other great places to drink beer in the Bath area!
On Friday at 6:30pm, the free Summer Concert Series continues with the Suzuki Kids performing at the Library Park gazebo. Follow that with a trip to The Fountain for ice cream (open 11am-8pm). Or if your group is looking for a more 21+ experience, head to Long Reach Kitchen & Catering at the Bath Golf Club for one of the best sunset views in Bath and their brand-new “Spritz Tower”! (All of their cocktails are amazing!)
On Saturday morning, from 8:30-12 noon the Bath Farmers’ Market will be at Waterfront Park - hooray and thank you farmers! While at the park, gaze out on the Kennebec and see if you can spot our local Sasquatch, aka, the Monsters of the Kennebec, aka Atlantic sturgeon, jumping!
All day Saturday and Sunday, Sweet Escape boutique on Front Street will be hosting a pop-up with Zo. & Co. - accessories and more with an emphasis on “sew”- ing! Saturday at 2pm, head a bit north to Wiscasset and the Maine Tasting Room - grab some local food and drink a la carte, or sign up for their 2pm Flavors of Maine 101 class (held Monday - Saturday).
On Saturday at 5pm, more free music, this time at Waterfront Park, with Xander Nelson, a singer-songwriter who brings a fusion of garage rock and pop-punk with soulful blues to our Kennebec River stage. Thank you once again (woot!) Chocolate Church and Main Street Bath (and sponsors!) for bringing us all the free music all summer long!
Sunday, why not pick your own blueberries? One of Maine’s iconic treats, you can find low bush or high bush berries throughout our state, just about starting NOW. Card’s Fruit Farm in nearby Bowdoin is ready with ripe berries for your picking. Kick back, eat your blueberries and as the evening comes, keep your eyes peeled for the almost-full (sturgeon) moon!
Coming up next weekend - Sagadahoc Preservation, Inc.’s annual Historic House & Garden Tour. Explore several garden and homes in Bath - your chance to get behind the scenes of some very special places, with fabulous stories to tell.
Also next weekend, the Popham Art Show is in Phippsburg all weekend long at the Popham Chapel House. If you want to take a bit of Popham Beach home with you, what better way than through a piece of local art? More details to come!
Enjoy your weekend in the Bath area!
